Overview - Chi siamo

La SIBPA ha i seguenti scopi:

		Valorizzare e promuovere gli enti aventi le stesse finalità ed operanti nel terzo settore;
		Effettuare studi specifici di carattere scientifico e tecnico su problematiche di notevole rilevanza per la biofisica in generale;
		Promuovere e favorire iniziative di istruzione, formazione ed aggiornamento dei singoli operatori associati;
		Promuovere e favorire le iniziative di divulgazione intese ad accrescere la conoscenza della biofisica, sia in Italia che all'estero;
		Promuovere incontri, convegni e seminari a carattere tecnico-scientifico, su problematiche attinenti la biofisica;
		Favorire il collegamento fra le attività di servizio e quelle di ricerca e sviluppo nel campo della biofisica, presso le Università e gli Enti di Ricerca Italiani e stranieri, anche attraverso l'utilizzo di apposite reti telematiche;
		Garantire lo sviluppo di una rete di relazioni con altre associazioni aventi carattere scientifico attinente alla biofisica ed altre categorie professionali che operano nell'ambito della biofisica, anche ponendo a loro disposizione il proprio contributo morale e materiale;
		Istituire borse di studio e premi in denaro per giovani ricercatori nell'ambito delle ricerche in Biofisica

The Italian Society for Pure and Applied Biophysics (SIBPA) is an open and no-profit scientific association founded in 1973.

It is the oldest biophysical society in Italy and the only italian society included among national representatives of IUPAB (International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics: http://iupab.org/) and EBSA (European Biophysical Societies' Association: http://ebsa.org).

SIBPA institutional aims are:
a) to promote and facilitate the dissemination of knowledgein biophysics;
b) to support and organize initiatives for education, training and updating in biophysics-related issues;
c) to enhance the collaboration between laboratories at universities and research institutions;
d) to organize meetings, conferences and seminars on biophysical topics and establish scholarships and awards for young researchers engaged in biophysical researches.

Every two years SIBPA holds a National Congress whose main topics range from molecular to integrative biophysics, through cellular and sensory biophysics. In recent editions, nanobiophysics and advanced microscopies have been added among cutting-edges research fields and applications.
Since 1997 SIBPA promotes and organizes, jointly with IVSLA (Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti) in Venice, Italy, the well-established annual International School of Pure and Applied Biophysics, dealing with cutting-edge topics in biophysics.

SIBPA regularly offers merit-based bursaries and travel grants to individual young scientists to attend the EBSA and the USA Biophysical Society meetings, and its biennial National Congress.
